Gio Yáñez
I earned my Jazz Guitar degree at ESMAE (Porto) and studied with masters such as Marcos Pin, Paco Charlín, Nuno Ferreira, and Michael Lauren, receiving several scholarships along the way.
I’ve performed with renowned musicians like Cristian Cuturrufo, Javier Colina, Jens Larsen, Eladio Díaz, and Marcel Pascual, and I’ve been playing at festivals and clubs for years. As a composer, I’ve released two well-regarded albums: Zero Point Energy and Zink Tank.
I’m passionate about making jazz accessible to musicians around the world, especially through my YouTube channel and my global online teaching platform.
Teaching is my true vocation. I founded La Casa del Jazz, the first jazz school in León, which later evolved into a global online platform, offering lessons to guitarists worldwide and helping them develop both their jazz skills and artistic voice.
I am co-founder and music director of Km 251, a jazz festival in northern Spain. Every summer, I also teach at the Semana del Jazz de Candás, an improvisation seminar in Asturias that has been running for over 10 years.
I teach guitarists from all over the world, from North America to Europe, sharing my experience in jazz improvisation.
